I've settled on combinations of different socks + different insoles for different boots, even for the same size from the same brand! My feet are normal/wide but similar to you not much volume / arch to fill a shoe so I get a crease in the leather behind the ball of my foot if I don't fill them out somehow.

Does anyone else have a problem padding a boot out. I have a nice pair of brogue boots. I'm a size 10 and the size is fine, the toe box fits well. but its the upper part of the boot I have issue with because ankles are pretty weedy and my feet are quite shallow, they don't fill the boot very well.
