Currently 0.2 miles from the school that's had a confirmed case. Get the train through Haslemere every day. Hmm.

gf is meant to be visiting family in Italy next week and has been concerned about the prospect of 'self-immolation'. Either it's a language slip or things have escalated quickly.

Mate of mine has just got back from northern Italy after doing a gig out there. He feels fine. Should he self-isolate?
All the advice is here:

They'll only need to self-isolate if they have a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath when they get back. If they come back healthy they don't need to do anything, unless they're going skiing in one of these places:

Some Iranian dissident activists are spreading the craziest stories on social media about the situation there, making claims that clearly aren't true because Iran isn't North Korea and just could not hide such things if they were actually happening (mass plague pits etc.). The basic story is "Iran about to implode, please send UN/American army to help".
Not going to link to them because they're bullshit and I'm disappointed with friends/acquaintances who are sharing them with "Huge if true" disclaimers.
Going to be a lot more of this shit around as political opportunists of all kinds look for an edge.

Ah alright, cheers. They're going to a different place but not too far from those listed. I doubt the uni is aware of this trip as it's organized by students, so I'll notify them and let them decide what to do with it. Feels a bit fear mongery but not doing anything doesn't sit right with me either.

Maybe China will make up the deaths from the virus by having fever deaths from air pollution.

So Valencia is doing fuck all to prevent the spread of disease ... Las Fallas, the biggest street party in Spain (Europe?) kicked off today and will continue for 20 days.
I didn’t see a single mask ... maybe beer and explosions will keep it at bay.

Would oul military masks work for modern day viruses?
I’d say it possible but this article has absolutely no merit, re-read it and the main point seems to me a general revisited the area...
