My understanding is that it is the same as the Hubei virus, but the virus has evolved while it has been circulating in Italy suggesting it has been there for some time. Is that right?
To Fox's point, I would assume a necessary part of a containment strategy is identifying cases in the first place. Neil Ferguson has estimated that probably only 1 in 4 cases outside China are being identified. However, the length of time it appears to have been circulating below the radar in Italy suggests there were not great screening measures in place.
My point being, it's different to the wubei strain, has been circulating for some time and no one knew.
How would you isolate? How would you contain?
I'd love to hear.
