What time is it? Watches and horology

If anyone is thinking of dipping their toe in the vintage Omega pool, for ~£1150 I think this is a solid buy. Great seller too.

Having a chat with my father, discussing the difference, it amazes me how different and yet how amazing these 2 watches are. They couldnt be more different either! And I mean the quartz versus automatic (manual) . Both what I think of examples of the pinnacle of man's engineering skills.

It amazes me everytime I look at the auto how we can have something so fine and so detailed to capture so many features (complications) using cogs and springs. To accurately capture and track time. So delicate and so complicated.
And that they can be accurate to with seconds over the course of days or even weeks. And up until recently only hand crafted. Cogs and springs!!

The quartz is solar powered, GPS enable, satellite sync beast where you can have multiple timezones, can record GPS coordinates with pinpoint accuracy and time accurate to an atomic clock. Actual WTF moment.

I was looking at these just the other day as Carter and Marsh have a really nice over priced one 😀
Missed out on one on eBay just this week, went cheap as the photos were pretty poor but was described as great condition. Only down side was that it was Date + Day and Date alone looks better to me.
