It’s not a backup but a repository for movies, music, photo’s that will be backed up elsewhere or live on my main computer.
So current thinking workflow is that everything (media) lives on main computer, which is backed up to time machine.
Media - movies/music/photos are copied onto the nas and updated as new material is downloaded/created/ripped, so is available to be streamed/viewed, in front room and wherever else I can figure out to send it..Nas is then backed up maybe to an external hdd or cloud based service whichever is most cost effective..
Nas is just for media, might make a folder for documents/stuff we both need access to, but not sure my missus wants that..
Right now I’m trying to get music and films on it.

The thing to remember is that RAID is a solution for availability, you can't treat it like a backup. If it is actually being used as a backup for another drive then don't use Raid 10, it's wasteful.
Yes Raid 10 can hot-swap and Raid 1, 5, 6 and 10 offer drive redundancy but how will you recover your data if the cluster gets corrupted or the physical server goes kaput?
