Hmm, tempted by Mario Odyssey.

Mario Odyssey is incredible.

In the same boat, but still content playing through BotW so can imagine Odyssey sitting there for a long time before getting played.

I miss botw... I wish I never finished it. I spent ages avoiding the end game but I'm not a completionist either, so it was a bit of a weird place to be with a game.

I 'finished' it then started a new playthrough on Master Mode. So much better to play for the most part (IMO). I do enjoy games where you have to think about picking your battles. However, the flat levelling up of enemies (plus health regen) has made some bits far too difficult.
Taking on an outpost of 6 silver level enemies with regenerating health still seems impossible, even with level 40-60 weapons. I can't even imagine how difficult the Trials of the Sword will be with all enemies bumped up a level + health regen. This, combined with the fact that I got through all divine beasts with little extra effort (and the end boss is easier than all of those 4) does give the game an oddly uneven balance regarding difficulty.

I used to a lot but my pc is currently in pieces.

I'm still avoiding the end... I waited for the DLC and then never finished it... I should do that...

Here I go!
How did it go?

Skyrim port is excellent.
I want to get The Witcher, supposedly the new patch improves performance a fair bit. I’ll get the physical version though as I’ll need to get a new SD card to fit the massive download anyway...

Picked up Mario Odyssey, pretty much what I expected, very good 3D platformer. Only a few levels in but it's not really grabbing me.
Could be just that 3D platformers are good for nostalgia and not much else to me. It's also not a great combo that it has low-value collectibles (coins) scattered everywhere and I'm a 'collect all the things!' type player, so I end up traversing empty levels after I've 'finished' it in search of low value tokens.
Or it could be that it's the only other recent game I've played other than BotW, and it's just not as good. Will keep at it and see if it picks up at all. At least until the NYC-styled level, as that looks pretty cool.

You're not trying hard enough, it's a great game... I think I might prefer Super Mario 3D World but it's still amazing...
-
• #21565
Bought it as well. Will be having a go this evening. Two player mode is suppose to be fun as well, so could be decent couch coop.

Completely agree, will continue with it for a while. Though I feel like I have to motivate myself to play it when BotW is there, still providing seemingly endless exploration after 90+ hours.
On the BotW note, I hate to admit it, but the Korok seeds are an amazing idea. It's a great way to trick people into not going into auto-pilot mode when moving around the world. Granted, it needs to be paired with a well designed open world (something which many games completely fall flat on, I'm looking at you MGSV).
The amount of times I've been going from A to B only to get completely side-tracked and forget about what I was originally planning on doing is ridiculous, in a good way.
I think it's surpassed MGS3 in my favourite games of all time list.

My sentiments exactly. I really struggled to want to play it when I knew I had BOTW to play.

Bold words there, mgs3 was nigh on perfect.
Not played BOTW though. Working my way through FFVIII at the moment, then have links awakening to play before I buy a new game.

Indeed! Not words I ever thought I'd type either!

i have no idea what i'm doing. is that the point?
This is the kind of existential question I come to the video games thread to avoid.

Do whatever the hell you fancy, end up in a state of eternally getting side-tracked, and at some point, fight the big bad.
Edit: And try not feel too disappointed in the anti-climax that is the big bad.
Edit2: Learn how to use your shield to surf down hillsides, great fun and a fast way to get around (downhill only, obviously)

Trying out Metro 2033 Redux on Switch. It's looking tasty so far.

Mgs3, best game ever. I have great memories of playing that online

I'm happy to see I'm not alone here in holding it in such high regard!
tbh I'm still worryingly committed to Stardew Valley (nearly got all achievements - just grinding the last one then I'll call it quits having made about 100 million gold / bought all the gold clocks / returning stick thing / obelisks / upgrades etc. (diamond farm in the barns / truffle farm outside (200 happy pigs with various perks (iridium forage / double forage) = up to 6 iridium truffles per pig per dry day / ancient fruit and iridium fruit trees in the greenhouse / cellar full of ancient fruit wine (118 casks = 550,000 gold per harvest etc).
I'll probably look at BOTW again and see if I can get into it a bit more. Also looking at stocking up while the sale is on with:
Witcher 3 is 35 down from 50.
Skyrim is 25 from 50
Odyssey is 33 from 50
Mortal kombat 2 is 22 from 55
Dark Souls is 21 from 35
Worms WMd is 6.79 from 20
the newish (few years old) Doom is 25 from 50
Terraria still seems expensive at 17 from 25 (surprised it's 25 in the first place!)
Diablo etc etc.
Don't really know any of these games apart from Witcher/Skyrim so it's a gamble but figure I'll expand the library at some stage - might as well be when it's cheaper.
