Detached retina. Initially I was scheduled for surgery the very next day! But then they reflected and waited a while as I'd had the symptoms for some time, not realising the severity.

Hope you're able to get a checkup and that it's nothing serious.

Sat in moorefields now while the dilation drops make this very hard to type. Nurse didn't see anything obvious, waiting for the doc.

Good stuff. Those dilation drops are a right annoyance!

Definitely better safe than sorry. I found the moorfields docs to be excellent. I've had a few false alarms of symptoms since, but they always told me to go right back in if I noticed any changes.

Cycle confident. I used them and can recommend a trainer if you like.

Thrilling, blurry update. They doubt it's a detachment, but there is a bleed on the retina which I'm waiting to get scanned. Dr sounded like it would be a "come back clinic to see if it's gone away" kind of affair.

Sounds encouraging, hope it clears up on it's own.

Superficial bleed (scotoma?) on the retina, hence the blind spot. No obvious reason. Will be given a follow up appointment at the retina health clinic in 2-4 weeks to see if it hasn't cleared itself.

Ah! My son did bikeability in primary school, se London. He was not impressed! Tried to get him to lower his saddle and not ride in primary when he should 🙄

Glad to hear it doesn't sound too serious, hopefully it clears up by your next appointment.
