it's totally wrong for anyone to be eating animals that are endangered
For example, the eels in yer pie and mash mate. But I suspect someone eating eels will be treated differently to someone eating pangolin.
(I agree with you but making the point that there is definitely racism involved here.)

The big difference being you can't spot a pangolin in the canal at Mile End if you're lucky.

"So here's what appears to be chain of events:
The Trump administration repatriated infected Americans over the
objections of the CDC.HHS then sent federal workers to interact with the infected population
without adequate training or protectionThen those workers went out into the public with no monitoring or
testing regime in place. And now the first US-contracted case has appeared right near one of
the airforce bases where this all happened." -

Dow Jones in biggest fall in one day since 2008. 1190 points.
And so it begins. The economic consequences are likely to be far reaching.

Came back from Singapore, very impressed with the way they are dealing with it.
Came through Heathrow, one of largest interchange of humans in the world.... Business as usual, no extra cleaning, no hand wash stations, no notices etc -

the advertising I get served (yes I know it's targeted individually) is all from HomeAway advertising ski chalets in Northern Italy.
(I haven't looked at the HomeAway site at all in the last 3 years.)

We'll contain this virus originating in China, by flying potential suffers all over the world and trusting them to stay at home.
I'm going to The Winchester.

- Don't panic buy enough food to survive a zombie apocalypse. But do buy a few extra provisions. Do it a bit at a time, add a few extra things in when you normally go shopping. Have 2 weeks worth of provisions, including some chocolate or other treats. Don't forget about pets.
Eating the dog seems a bit extreme.

What is it with right wing voters and the enthusiasm for people being repatriated at any expense? Public expense that is.
Shouldn't they use such incidents as a proof of concept that private insurance is universally more effective? -

Because you could consider it part of the welfare state? c.f.

This!
Insane to willingly fly ppl around the world in an effort 'to look after our own'. Defeats the point of a quarantine.
Humanity is stupid. May our sentient tech descendants be more wise.
You could well be right. I think the current mixed messages aren't helping.
We have a colleague coming over from our Italian factory next week. It's veneto, but not shutdown area, so no reason she shouldn't under current circumstances - I was there 2 weeks ago. But I know she works with Chinese subcontractors... some of whom may have been back over cny....very easy to get paranoid. Probably more risk than a school skiing holiday though.
