So what I'm getting from reading various stuff is that containment is pointless . We're all probably going to get it at some point. It may end up being very like the flu in that outbreaks are regular occurences. Press have blown the threat very much out of proportion. Am I wrong?

Containment is designed, from what I can see, to interrupt the progress of the pandemic so that we don't all fall ill at once and so that summer may operate to kill off the pandemic before it affects us all. Mind you, I have seen nothing to say that summer will actually help and there are now reports of people catching it multiple times which is a worry.

As an elderly male, it looks like my chance of death when (rather than if) I catch it is around 5%. Not sure if that increases or deceases when I catch it for the second or third time.

Then again, perhaps this planet needs fewer elderly males.

China can, the rest of the world is unwilling.

I was given a bottle of hand sanitiser yesterday. Gave it to a colleague, there's no substitute for washing your hands.

Well I wasn't comparing the fatality rate, merely the occurence. As I say mainly my impression from reading a some articles. Certainly a few I've read are pretty fatalistic about it.

Not seen stats on whether mental health or cognitive disorders have any effect.

Pretty much. I read that nearly 50% of the UK's bird biomass is imported from abroad and released for hunting purposes. Country folks do a lot of damage to their environments.

My office block had the hand sanitiser on a table at 12, a plinth at 1 and a sign telling you to use it at 1:30. I've never seen a landlord move so fast.
