really skinny Ritchey Z-max, the brick red ones.
Snap. I used to use them. 1.7" if I remember, for general trail riding. Basically just glorified cross tyres, but light as fuck and surprisingly grippy. Suffered from a lot of snakebite punctures mind you, thoroughly unsurprisingly.

Watched this last night, it is how I imagine your race stops go :)

That was it... 1.7"
Actually great tyres in the bigger sizes -

Why aerobars?
Tbh here I would bring some next time. But I can also drape arms over bars when needed.

No I dont want to be slow, it makes my life hard to catch up. But I've been ill recently and I didnt know how my body would respond so I had to start cautious, incase i was still running low. And i lost some fitness being ill so my speed wasnt the same.
Not making excuses, just facts.

What happened to the valve, why did you need to get it out?

Screwed pump on. Pumped tyre. Uncrewed pump. And 4mm on the vavle core outer and valve core came off with pump. Managed to extract that from pump head. However locking nut was then on vavle core and as the cylinder had sheared I could not unscrew it as it was deformed.
Not sure why this happened. Super weird. Pretty much done with screw on pumps now.

I found it a lot easier to maintain focus which meant time passed much quicker. It was a real pleasure not being able to check your phone and just cycle.

I've fucked up my valve the same way once. Not in an atlas mountain race though.. Shitty floor pumps for the win.

Weird indeed. Was the valve aluminium? Brass should be more durable, or the titanium ones by Lindarets.
-
• #294
Yes it was aluminium. I will only use brass now.

Interesting. My total time was 96h, stopped time 24h. I can account for say, 15h stopped. 9h i cannot account for! A large quanity.
When I have half hour I'll do some better maths to account for the wasted time.

crazy huh. And I accounted for my known longer feed stops.
So it's short stops or time I can't account for. Really bad.
Now that's what I wanted! :)
