  • Unlikely you'll get decent filters in a supermarket, try here: https://www.pactcoffee.com/coffee-filters/clever-dripper-filter-papers

Edit: Same filters as recommended above.

  • Which place has the best coffee in Camden?

  • No experience with older models unfortunately. On the plus side they are incredibly straightforward machines so assuming everything is structurally sound and there are no major leaks, I can't see it ever taking too much work to get one back up to speed.

Struggling to think of anything that could go wrong that wouldn't involve replacing the heating element, new pressure-stat (not sure if they had one on the older models) or some new gaskets. That one does look to have some pitting on the chrome which I imagine is expected given the age.

Any particular desire for such an old model? I'm quite pleased with how the design has stayed consistent over such a long period of time (aside from the base really). Just asking as my new one was less than that (not sure how much market rates vary across the Atlantic though).

Edit: Just had a quick look and christ the new ones are expensive in the US. Never mind the above paragraph!

  • Camden Coffee House is decent

    30 Camden Rd NW1 9DP

  • My dad’s selling a pavoni if anyone is interested :)

  • Having a clear out and wondered if anybody would like a stack of Caffeine magazines dating back to 2013 before I recycle them?

Weekday collection at Highbury and Islington or weekends in Balham.

  • Thanks for your reply! Yeah, that's pretty much it. New is mad expensive. I also like stuff from the 60s.... I'll do some reading :-)

  • I'm sure you've already seen this, but just be sure to make better coffee than this if you end up getting one:

  • Weird for sale here, but I've got a Kilo of Colonna's Trio Espresso kicking around that I won't use.

It's not really available on the market, more of a wholesale thing... A well rounded blend designed as a perfect "house" coffee for speciality coffee shops. Roasted in the middle of the month so will be ready for use in the next week or so.

Happy to post for £25 (including P and P)

  • I'll take this pls, pm incoming if still around

  • I have a Barista Express going. Put a mention of it a day or two ago for £250

Can't see that you'd need any of the dual boiler ones unless you need to make loads quickly. The steaming is pretty good on the Barista Express

Bump if anyone's after a Sage Barista Express. Working fine, but other half has the same machine and having 2 seems extravagant.

    £240

  • While we're at it, my 9Barista is on the bay now...

    • too much faff for a small but decent espresso
    • coffee cools down too quick because it needs to be decanted into demitasse
    • clean up is about the same as a moka but because of the weight and tightness required, doing that is a little much
  • I've ordered a Cafelat Robot, any owners on here?

  • I'm not fickle, I'm an experiencialist.

  • Thought that orders were suspended? Would be interested to hear how you find it!

My head says cafelat robot my heart says la pavoni.

Also whats a demitasse. Just pre heat it whatever it is surely.

  • It was when I first checked but last week the status changed. They took my money anyway...
Preheating isn’t the same as starting with hot espresso, the crema tends to break down as it’s poured from the maker to the cup.
    Demitasse is a little cup.

  • Oh I get you. Fair enough.

  • Anyone after a FREE stainless steel commercial drawer knock box?

Surplus to requirements, too big for its intended purpose so I have used it for storage of coffee accessories. My Gaggia Baby fitted nicely on top of it!

It is missing the rubber pin/roll and a pin holder from one side.

    29cm wide × 39cm deep × 9cm tall

Will need a clean but it's free!

    (Forum donation will be appreciated)

  • If no one else wants it, I will take it.

  • So the Cafelat Robot arrived today.
Not sure if this was supposed to happen or not, but I successfully pulled a great shot on my very first attempt, using the same dose and grind settings (14gm at 1.5 turns back from closed on my Helor 101) that I use for my moka pot. I didn't lean over the unit, I crouched in front so that I could see what was going on as I don't have a gauge.
    Amazing.

  • Nothing to do with your post on here, but after you facebook post.... I have 4 euro piccolo machines that are not working (broken) in different ways Have a couple with dead elements.

  • Nice! Sounds like a good opportunity for some tinkering!
