My mother in law brought us one back from Pakistan than was hewn from a fucking massive chunk of granite while she waited. It’s an absolute beast. Eats pieces of shit like you for breakfast

T&G CrushGrind
Get the fuck off big wooden Opera ones - way more control over grind size.
If the mechanism goes tits up, you can buy replacements for £10, and they're very easy to replace in the large mills.

I knew you can dial in the 'size', didn't know you could replace the burrs.
Win!

My dad gave us his Perfex pepper mill. . It has been in our house since the 80s before he gave it to us and he has no idea where/how it was acquired. Holy crap is it amazing.

New Eps of The Chef Show with John Favreau are keeping me entertained on sickly sicko sofa day. The Border Grill and Wolfgang Puck ones are great. Now I want to make my own tacos.

I can recommend some great taco books if you are serious.

I'm sure I've posted this before but I watched it again recently as prep to making some and it is enjoyable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VyjfgtHyl0

Yeah tortillas are just one of those things that I just cannot make. I will do basically everything else from scratch but just not tortillas.
@cornelius_blackfoot and @snowy_again can attest to my taco prowess.

If that's what your Tortillas end up looking like, maybe cooking isn't for you?

That was skirt steak marinated for 18 hours in an ancho and guajillo chili paste and it was great. I checked my pics and all I could find was a table of mostly empty dishes.
I would rather focus on the core elements and the condiments rather than the bread. I am from Texas and do know what good tortillas taste like. Tortillas and tamales are a bit like sausages - once you know how to make them and how much work it is, you are more than happy to let someone else do the work for you.

Friends gave me a tortilla press for my birthday and I've done it a couple of times now. I definitely agree with this, my home made version is decent after a couple of goes but not notably better than store bought and much more work.
We do usually make our own pasta, for reference.

This! I've got two and they're great and don't cost 1 million pounds.
Chinatown pestle and mortar is your best bet I reckon... I've never bought a pepper mill worth its, er, salt....
