I have a mid 90s Fossil I'll dig out at some point. Portrait rather than landscape.

This looks like it should undo zips and shoot our grappling hooks ... love it

I'm sure he'll try, but that's quite an ask.

Can't abide the date window on IWCs
-
• #42333
It’s pretty embarrassing at this point that they don’t have a movement that fits the case.

This looks fantastic by the way:

About £1300, 39mm, ETA 2892 “top” grade, also comes in black.

Markers looking quite art deco! Balance looks nice, great size. Have you tried on?? Wish companies would get rid of the whole roulette date colours though, black is so much better. This gets away with it a tad more due to automatic also being in red. Wish they'd remove it from the datejust.

Movement finishing is class.

What's wrong with this movement?
-
• #42338
I think he's referring to the date window sitting too far from the bezels edge. Is that a Sellita movement??

It’s based on the ETA 2892. Basically the same as that Milus I posted, except IWC want five times the money.
It fits their 34mm watches nicely, but on the regular Pilot the date window ends up a long way in and they’ve chosen not to put an elongated marker or anything at the 3 position to fill the space. Really, it just shouldn’t have a date, #thereisolvedit

I haven’t, but there are some pics here:

So I tried it on in the Grand Seiko Boutique. I don't know if this is good news or bad news, but it didn't blow me away. The dial seemed lifeless to me, but you might call that subtle. The case shape is nice, but could be thinner. As noted up thread, the funny shape to the lug ends is a bit quirky. I guess if you saw it in real life you wouldn't still want one.

I had some fun in the store though. There was an old Miami dude browsing and I think I talked him into a spring drive. Had a good chat with the guy who ran the store as well and tried a few watches including the limited edition Godzilla. My signal isn't great, but I will upload some photos of your watch and others when I am back on wifi.

Great shots and a little video on here with a nice story attached to the original version of this watch. Owned by a member of the Tissot family apparently.
They have a 25% off discount code on the site so works out around £985.

Thank you very much! I really appreciate you doing that.
Yeah, I popped to the Knightsbridge GS boutique today, obviously they didn’t have that model but several of them are a very similar size overall. The autos are just a bit too thick I think. I don’t reckon they’d work on a strap.
The 39mm hand-wound models are a great size and shape though, I totally agree. Wasn’t sold on the charcoal dial but the white one is very nice.

Yeah, they had that too, I thought it worked very well in the metal. Not OTT.
This, on the other hand...

Cheers, and @Regal
Tissot is a possible, need to have a look at some in a shop. The Seikos are nice but a bit similar to a couple of Seiko 5s that I already own (and I guess do fulfil my criteria).
Has anyone got the Timex Q? I like the look of them but haven't seen one in a shop yet to judge what it's like.
