In fairness that one has been around for ages, not up to the investor of Snake.
They could have stupided it up, why not have "peace wall man"? Green at night, Orange during the day, super conflict on the 12th and Patrick's day :p

The snakes are said to represent the druids of the original religions here, there's a lot of "retconning" that's gone on when the Catholic Church arrived.
(in fairness they did also preserve original religious stories)
But then they add the guy to a team called The Union, which those druids probably wouldn't be part of...
Of course your version would also work, but he's supposed to be some hero along with Union Jack (old Marvel character) and 2 other UK country ones.
It's all very confusing :D
