Blimey, I didn’t know that .. here to learn .
I saw a couple in David Duggans shop some while ago and was surprised to learn of the premium.
It looked like a crackle glaze paint effect to me .. pretty though .
Niche collectors stuff I guess ?

Yeah the gloss dial has a formula which is more prone to cracking if I remember correctly. That's why quite a few have the combination of cracked and gloss when searching. Think the gloss dial variant wasn't produced for long and I guess this causes the premium. I'm sure regal as info too.

Kind of the situation with most rare collectors things I guess. I always think of it like the rare notes and coins. If they produce it with an error, at the time its regarded as a fault so quickly discontinued and amended but then they're the rare ones, so the fault is a plus.

But of a volte face, to a “if you can’t beat them...” perspective, designed mainly to scratch the Rolex itch whilst minimising risk.

Today I have been offered a Milgauss, an Explorer, an Airking and a Yacht Master.

For a Submariner or a GMT it’s been made clear that I would need to buy a number of the watches that I’ve already been offered (watches that I don’t want) before being (possibly- zero guarantee) offered the opportunity to order a watch that I do want.

So I’m probably going to pay overs on a freshly flipped watch, if it passes scrutiny. Unworn, Registered Jan 2020, almost all the Rolex warranty and all the gubbins- box, papers, hang tags etc.

My theory is that this will be the cheapest, most direct method of scratching the Rolex itch, and I can flog it for close to what I (may) pay for it if I don’t get on with it.

Yeah you’re unlikely to lose much money on a new steel sports model if you pay market rate at the moment.

I think it looks weird how the end links don't follow the shape of the horns.

I'm actually glad they don't, because they'd look too heavy I think, but it is another example of GS reviving a case shape (the 62GS in this case… no pun intended) that was never intended to be paired with anything other than a leather strap, and having to figure out how to attach a bracelet to it.

I just discovered that you can sort of hack the seconds hand on a 7s26.
When you set the time backwards a little bit you can hold the pressure on the crown to arrest the seconds until it's syncronised with your reference watch. Then proceed to set the time.
(everyone makes sure to align the minute hand exactly to a marker and push the crown in when the second hand is at 12, right?)

This is what "hacking seconds" means when people describe movements.

Very helpful for the OCD out there.

Since the accuracy is probably best described as vague, I'm happy with a general indication of time. (On my SKX)

A movement with hacking seconds will stop the seconds hand when you pull out the crown.
The 7s26 does not do that, but you can achieve similar with the method I described, despite it being a non hacking movement.

Just tried one of those on 2 hours ago. Totally underwhelmed.

Also, are you in the UK? I'd certainly have to try one before I went for anything and that seemed unlikely to happen given its US-exclusive-ness.

Can't imagine why they struggle selling those.

(obvs the Explorer is nice, albeit not as nice as the old 36mm)

edit I take it back about the Yacht Master as it depends which one.

Currently in Asia. Just tried it on as don't get chance much in London.

Part of the problem is that it was a bit too shiny and did not grab me like the Zenith Defy Classic in blue with titanium bracelet. Or a Glashutte Original Seventies.

No real reason why, just gut reaction.

I did like the SBGK007G. Manual wind and a good dress watch.

I also find it hard to get past the 'just a seiko' attitude as well. In this AD the GS were on sale next to the rest of the Seiko range and it detracts from the GS brand IMHO.

Best thing though is take yourself to AD in knightsbridge and try it on. Some of the GS range i like, but this one I did not.

Anyone been to Halifax Canada? Any watch shops worth looking at? Or montreal?

Interesting that it was on sale at an AD in Asia given they're supposed to be US-market exclusive. It definitely wasn't the SBGA375? Those are very shiny indeed. Well, they all are, but the big flat mirror polished flanks on those are especially eye-catching.

Yeah, yellow gold YM II = awful, rose gold YM 40 on oysterflex = banging.

The 9ne I yried on was SbGA375G
So not the same one. Only difference looks to be markers on power meter.
