Brompton owners

I've done about 36k miles on mine in year-round conditions. I adhere to the 'keep the rims clean' advice and looking back over time I reckon mine last about 4.5k miles (front) and up to 7k miles (rear).

I use Squirt wax which has had a material effect on rear rim wear as it doesn't seem to create as much grit-attracting emulsion on the rim in wet weather riding.

What at all? Or have B just discontinued the handled one cos none of their new bags use it?

On the component life/cleaning issue - what's people's approach to washing the bike? I tend to wipe and lube the chain every so often, let it wear to 0.75%, then replace chain and sprockets, wipe the rims and blocks every so often, and give the bike a proper clean every couple of months (I hate washing bikes, especially commuters that are going to have to go through the wet again tomorrow...)

I guess I should check the rims sometime soon - replace at 1mm thickness?

Just get the chain clean with gt85 and a tea towel, bit of proper lube now and again.

Rims, ispropyl alcohol as often as possible.

What do people advise/use for lights (non-Dynamo) and luggage for the Brompton?

On luggage. I prefer the Mini O Bag for daily use as it is light and has a smaller frontal area. For a larger bag, I like Carradice's Stockport and City Folder M bags, which I got in limited edition red. I also have the very old Brompton touring bag with roll-top pockets, but I find it rather front heavy when fully loaded. If you are interested in the Carradice's I would secure a frame first, as they are in short supply. Some shops have them with frames in their display models, for example.

I'm swapping cranks on my brompton, putting on some spare Sugino 75's.
Having some issues finding a 54t 144bcd 3/32 chainring, for a not exorbitant price.
Anyone got one, or links to where I can purchase one?

Have bike booked in for rear triangle replacement end of this week, and want to get the cranks swapped over at the same time.

Try seeing if someone has an old-school Campag large chainring. The older models had 144mm PCD, full size teeth and no ramps/pegs so they work well for single chainring applications. I got a 54t chainring for free on here a while back from the very kind @PhilDAS.

The Game Bag frame is in stock at SJS, so that would fit the Carradice Stockport bags, though with no handle. I guess a fabric handle could be added to the frame, if needed.

I had a secondhand game bag and sold it, found it too small a lot of the time.

Replaced it with a ferry bridge folder bad from updo, which is way roomier and has a hand laptop pocket, and zipped pocket. Use it loads more than that damned game bag.

I'm intrigued by the UPSO bags, it looks like Carradice make them on their premises using solar-powered sewing machines. The Ferrybridge Folder seems to be derived from their discontinued Carradry bag for the Brompton, but with much nicer colours and tougher materials.

I can’t seem to find this mini mods mount for the light on the SJS website. Can it fit any other lights?

Will fit cateye, or whatever mount you fit.

I switched recently from a Carradice Stockport Folder to the new Brompton Metro bag. I've been really impressed by the Metro bag, no regrets. I prefer the buckles for securing the flap, and the expandable shoulder strap is handy when off the bike and you have a fully loaded bag.

That's the only one I could find in black, print is a bit fugly but I'll probably rattlecan it anyway...
