  • The lack of lighting was doing it a lot of favours.

Have just stripped it and removed a few of the worst bits of rust and revealed only some light pitting, looks alright inside the tubes too (metal coloured apart from really close to the BB) so happy it’s safe to ride.

Caustic soda on the way for the seatpost, as looks like someone has had a decent go at it already.

  • He's nobody's moggy now...

  • What frame was it stuck in?

  • Just won this unpolished gem for £117 after a few weeks of sighing at >£700 hipster gravel frames. Looks big enough for me, hopefully true. Not sure what I'll do with it, probably drop bar 1x8 parts bin build to begin with.

  • Ha! I was watching that. I think the derailleur hanger's snapped off, hopefully it's replaceable...

Looks like it's been through the wars a little bit

  • Thought of your thread actually, haha. Yeah the hanger's replaceable. I'll see what's what when it turns up I suppose. It was an opportunity to set up my sniping app after getting a new phone at any rate...

  • Best way to go... I was lusting after a midnight special for a while, but that and the other newfangled fat tyre frame sets in the the £700-£1k ‘just about affordable to me if I sell some stuff and eat beans for a month’ category weren’t really offering me much on the £:good shit ratio compared to an old mtb

  • Mm, i hear ya. I’ve been looking at the all city electric queen. Particularly like the colour schemes and the segmented fork but not affordable in the slightest. Will sooner buy an omnium / cargo frame set for that money.

  • Rather than mess around with chemicals I’d take that frameset to Winston Vaz to get the seatpost out. He’ll torch the seat tube cluster but will not cost you much and he has a very quick turnaround

  • New forks ; )

  • I was lusting after a midnight special for a while, but...

    Preach.

  • Guards arrived last night so took it out for a smidge of parks and mud this morning. Definitely could do with at least a front flap. Not sure about the amount of sweep on these bars, as its making me shove my saddle back loads to feel less upright. Fun riding though.

Damn ugly stem/headset thing going on too.

  • Define strong 😜 I love this bike too much tho so it’s a keeper.

  • Holy seatpost, Batman.

  • Cannondale really didn't realise that tall people existed in the 90's.

  • Course they did.... 63 and 66cm examples out there!

  • you're going to take that wald to your grave :)

  • Seatpost ID ?

  • Mm yeah was quite a nice one. Unbranded, 27.0. sold it with another bike a while ago.

    Bought it off @SideshowBob
