Ms Cupcake is closing.

I don't imagine she'll be away for very long, not only because of those cookbooks she'll write. She just seems to have insane energy levels.

Had the vegan tasting menu at Pollen Street Social last night. Food was exceptional, thoroughly recommend if you have a reason to celebrate.

Sad... So many cool independent places closing at the moment. Was in Ms Cupcake this afternoon to pick up some sweet treats and didnt realise they were closing soon.

Well, I seem to see new small vegan businesses pop up all the time. With Ms Cupcake, I assume it's just that her rent has been raised so far as to be completely unaffordable. She's built a reputation so can undoubtedly afford to change tack. I'm sure she won't go away completely.
I looked up one of my favourite traders the other day, Itis Eats; it seems they haven't been at markets but Mike has been cooking all over and is seemingly thriving, also writing a cookbook. While I miss their fish burger, which is the best vegan burger I've had, I can completely understand that if you're a chef you want to do more than just burgers or rotis at markets. You get staff churn in all businesses, and if they're small and can easily change focus, you will just get less continuity.

I'm moving to London in a few weeks. Will be staying in Streatham for a couple of weeks then Penge for a couple of months whilst me and my girlfriend figure out where we want to be longer term. Suggestions for interesting places to eat in south London would be appreciated! See also recommendations for good pubs, book shops, places for walks, anything else interesting. Thanks!

Not quite the same area as you- I’m SE5 but here are some reccs:
junk food fix - Full Nelson in Deptford.
Had decent breakfasts and coffee from ‘the odds’ in Peckham- looks like they do nice lunch / dinner too.
Always enjoy going to Zeret kitchen off Walworth road. Not strictly vegan but lots of choice - everything vegan clearly labelled.
Pizza near me is Mamma dough and Theo’s. Both omni- From Theo’s I usually get the marinara with a couple of extra toppings. Their house red is labelled vegan (white might be too, haven’t checked)
there’s loads more, will have a think

Good to hear. She's been there for years and I've always wanted to have something there, but I'm just not much of a daytime-eat-out kind of person. Did you see the Gazette article about her?

Anyone have a good source for bulk/wholesale peanut butter? We get through a lot. I currently buy Meridian crunchy in 1kg tubs but it's pretty expensive and quite a lot of plastic.

Jarr in Herne Hill let's you fill a container with as much as you want from raw peanuts and so does Source in Battersea I think

The lack of self awareness from the meat industry / purveyors just leaves me baffled
