  • Ha! Many thanks, but I've literally just bought a serial off Ebay. If it proves to be dodgy and doesn't work, I will doubtless be in touch :-)

  • Sure, let me know if you need it.

  • I made an upgrade, much more user friendly than MK1. I have spent just 1 hour with it and I am in love.

  • I thought I'd check on here first before resorting to Ebay...but is anyone interested in a mint condition Akai MPC X for £1100? I need to raise funds asap
    Collection from East London.

  • I’m selling a Roland TR-09 if anyone is interested. I’m a fan but I’ll have other things for drums shortly and I’m most productive with fewer options honestly.

It’s fine condition, boxed. I can throw in a stereo 3.5mm to dual-mono 6.35mm cable if required. I would like £300 posted.

  • I’m also selling. 😂

TR-8S and MX-1, both boxed and with Decksavers, VG++ condition.

  • Are you replacing the TR-8S with something?

  • Yeah, I finally bit the bullet and bought a second-hand Analog Rytm Mk2. I love the faders and the per-instrument insert fx on the TR-8S but I realised I really wanted the Elektron sequencer and workflow, and the ability to sample directly into the unit.

  • What sort of price would you be wanting for the TR-8S?

  • Hello,

I just bought my first Keyboard, a Casio MT-40.

I was wondering how I can learn I'm looking for a website or downloadable videos or books...
As I don't have internet where it resides..

  • This is a good book on theory:
    https://www.edly.com/mtfpp.html

Not sure about technique, I can’t play for toffee.

  • If you can buy a DVD of How Music Works by Howard Goodall, I would recommend it. In four hours it taught me more about the way music is structured and works logically and emotionally than pretty much any class I've ever done. Very piano-keyboard focused too.

  • Thanks! any good books?

    or any internet recommendations also

You should be able to find How Music Works on YouTube or 4OD / iplayer - it's excellent.

  • Look into the circle of fifths

  • Anyone else interested in the Model:Cycles? Looks a lot of fun for not a huge amount of money.

  • $299. Looks like fun

  • Certainly makes the MC-101 look like pretty poor value (as does the Model:Samples, now that that silly launch price is a thing of the past).

I still have a Machinedrum and Monomachine, so it’s not like I’m missing the synthesis types that it provides, but the workflow looks fantastic. No playing around. Been hearing people who are Octatrack, Monomachine and Rytm veterans saying they’ve never created and finished tracks as quickly as they are with the M:S.

  • Nice. I'm loving the 1010 Music Blackbox. Same. I can create an entire track and export it in half an hour, so good

  • I think the Cyles sounds really, really good. The Dataline demo blew my mind. Multitimbral Mutable Plaits in a TR-type package. Awesome.

The battery grip looks surprisingly good too.

  • The soundcloud demos on the Elektron site are excellent. Ess from Elektron has been explaining some of the design decisions they made, why they let it alias and degrade in the way it does - it’s really clever, I’m totally onboard with it. Have ordered. Definitely in for the battery handle when that becomes available too.

  • Did some 'noodling'... levels are all over the place, can't really apologise cause I don't know how to sort them out :D

Really need to stop playing endless loops and arrange a track. Have started saving patches in preparation:

  • Once you’ve lived with it a bit I’d be really interested to hear how you think the M:C and MD compare.

  • Sure, I’ll let you know. I cancelled my order because DV247 were going to give me a Euro plug with an adaptor and I’m a bit tired of those, I’d rather have a UK PSU. Trying to get Andertons to price match, so hopefully will have one soon.
