I had a few customers in bristol who rode 10-15 miles 5 days a week year round, probably did the rims every 8-12 months. Its hillier than london though.
Disc is amazing, but it is an additional cost.. feel free to head to SJS, we have demos you can test, will have an 18/20" disc rohloff demo too soon ;)

I've done about 36k miles on mine in year-round conditions. I adhere to the 'keep the rims clean' advice and looking back over time I reckon mine last about 4.5k miles (front) and up to 7k miles (rear).
I use Squirt wax which has had a material effect on rear rim wear as it doesn't seem to create as much grit-attracting emulsion on the rim in wet weather riding.
In people’s experiences of riding their Bromptons daily, how often would you have to replace the wheels and how is wet riding with them?
Trying to talk myself out of getting disc brakes but tempted to upgrade the drive train...
