@Howard was a 35mm stem too short?

It was on my Stanton. It doesn’t fit my other bikes, and yes it’s too short for their geo.

one thing I found with the 35mm stem I was using was. that because I have the bars rolled, the steering became negative, obvs never thought to actually check this, but with a 50mm stem it's almost perfectly through the point of axis.

Interesting - I never felt that, or considered it, with the 35mm.

I certainly don't feel it these days, I've hardly done any riding through winter

The only badgers I've seen out regularly over winter have been the heroic @youramericanlover and @yakut ( despite his being fairweather )

If there were any lessons to be learnt it was - any where near a foot deep tractor track is gonna be a terrible surface trip ride across/in.

Edit- in hindsight quite a lot of the ride detailed above was spent running, so might have actually been quicker to just run.
