Thinking of selling a bike. Not sure. What do you think?

It's been about twelve years since I've been on this site and that was pretty much the last time I road my lo-pro. Life changes and I don't cycle as much as I used to and when I do, I cycle something a bit more 'sensible' then this. I do remember the speed of this thing though and just the way it looks.

Lives in my parents basement. Should I sell it?

If it's in as good nick as that, I'd consider hanging it on a wall.

It is a bit of bike porn. Fillet brazed frames make me.... tingle.
I know I'll miss it, but I never use it and barely even see it.

Are your parents happy to continue to store it? Do you need the money?

Perhaps if you need the money, or someone really wants it & would show it more love than you do, then I'd consider selling. Otherwise, there's no harm in keeping it.

It comes down to what I'd get for it really. I need cash, but if it doesn't generate much, I'll hang onto it. Might eBay it with a reserve that I'd be happy with.

The frame is a Dave Yates and it was sold to me as apparently Renolds 653, but I've never been to sure. it has been resprayed at some point. I ran the frame number past Dave Yates, but as records were destroyed in flooding, he couldn't tell me too much about it. From the number format and location, he was pretty certain it was his. He actually remembered putting it together for a quite serious amateur racer, but it left him purple with pink lightning details.
Kinda glad it got resprayed.

I'm 6ft3 and it fits me but is a very 'compact' cycling position and welcome to toe overlap town.

So you have an idea of how much you would like for it?

I'm honestly not sure what is a fair price for it.
The frame is gorgeous, the Shamal track rear is hugely rare, the headset, bottom bracket, crankset, seatpost and brake are all Record. Even the tubs have little usage and cost £140 the pair.

This has to go. It looks like I'm going to be out of work for longer then I anticipated.
Anyone know what I should realistically be asking for it?
I'll make an add in classifieds when i get an idea of what I should be asking.

You'll get more to take it apart and sell as bits.

The wheels are worth somewhere between £350-£700 if recent eBay sales are accurate.

Yeah, part it out... Nice bits on it, you'll do okay...

Common sense would be to part it out, but having built it up and put some serious time and effort into it, it would hurt to do so.

Difficult to say.
I think it's eBay, with a reserve set to what I'd be happy with (still trying to figure out how much that is).
If it doesn't make that. I'll part it.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but having held on to this bike for another six months, I have cycled all of zero miles on it. It really should go to a new home.
I'm planning on eBay-ing it and seeing what it makes.
I'm thinking of setting a reserve minimum at the £800 mark? I was hoping to get close to £1k for it. Is that just being really ridiculous?
The rear wheel is extremely rare and every component is Campagnolo Record.

£800 isn't unreasonable to expect, put the shamals in the title as thats probably the biggest selling point/most valuable component

You have to bear in mind that as a package it’s in a very niche market. I mean, lovely parts and all but I think the frame is awful, because I just think lo-pro frames are ridiculous. No-one would buy it to race on because it’s now out of fashion. You’d be better off splitting it, as I don’t think you’d get much more than £500 for the whole bike. The frame might fetch £150 if you’re lucky.

I’d agree with @jj72.

£800 for anything with a fixed wheel is rich IMO.

Someone up thread said going price on the wheels is £350+, crankset should fetch an easy £150, maybe £200 for the cockpit, headset, post and brakes? Leaves you with the frame to go and only £100 to get to £800
