  • Anyone running a front rack on their pomp? Looking for recommendations so I can move my basket over.

  • I use a Specialized Pizza rack with P clips on the original fork.

Front end is obviously now heavier than a small planet, but it still handles solidly and predictably. Very happy with it.

  • Bought one of these...zip tie basket

  • If you want to have a basket on said rack, I would recommend the Wald 137 that comes with the stays. Mine is attached to the fork eyelets on my v4 Pompino, which it shares with the SKS fender stays. Nice and light, simple, and has been mega dependable for the 3 years I have had it.

  • Thanks for the suggestions!

Parts bin Pomp up and running. Chainset is knackered, but otherwise running well...

  • Rebuild my pompino with flatbars. Added a rear rack, new brakes, cables and changed gears to 44-17..

  • Nice build! If those tyres are wide enough this could be posted in the Gravel hybrids thread!

  • Thanks, these are 700x35, so probably gravelish, although i doubt it will see much gravel roads as its now my wife's commuter..

  • I'm going to drill the fork so I can mount a rack on it, but I am getting so confused about what it size it needs to be with recessed nuts and all that. So what size drill bit do I need to use and does it need to be bigger at the back than the front?

  • Yeah bigger at back than front to use a sleeve nut.

6mm at front, 8 at back mibbe.

  • Ok thanks, I'll see if that works

  • Is anyone running a crabon disc fork on their pomp?

  • i will be soon

  • I rode a carbon canti fork on my first pomp, but it had a longer a2c and it rode worse than the original fork.

  • Got one for sale if you're interested

  • What fork is it?

  • Cheers but I'm going to pass just now.

I've been looking through the pics on here and really not sold on the look of a carbon fork with the Pomp frame.

If I could get a fork that looked like a Columbus Minimal but took a disc then maybe but that's not going to happen eh?!

Probably keep my eyes peeled for a disc trucker fork or just braze some disc mounts to one of the Steamroller forks I have and hope for the best!

  • Maybe some matching paint:

  • I've still got my steel Cotic disc fork if you wants it...

  • I've put a Ritchey on mine. The pic is bad, as is the cockpit, but you can get an idea of the look

  • Thats a super-pomp

  • i hear ya. I ordered a macho man disc fork from a local(ish) bike shop but all city discontinued it before they could dispatch it. i have ended up with a brother carbon fork, which is very chunky

  • No worries. Yeah, I think the problem is they often look a bit mismatched with the chunky carbon fork crown.

Here's mine with the fork, in the end I went back to a straight steel fork and bigger 650b wheels.
