  • Mmm Love those basil tofu blocks

  • I think the basil tofu, tomato and some lettuce/spinach leaves hit a very similar spot to pesto, mozzarella and salad.

  • Taifun smoked tofu and the basil tofu are pretty good in sandwiches.

Yea, the olive one as well!

  • The vitalite cheese slices are not so bad in a sandwich, especially for dipping in soup

  • Violife do a whole selection of slices that are pretty good cold

  • Thinly sliced tofu fried with a bit of light soy sauce and smoked paprika. Could make a batch in 10 minutes that would last a few days. Smash that in some bread with cucumber, salad etc and you're laughing. Second the taifun tofu as well, the smoked seedy one is banging. Out Of This World in the city centre sell it but it's expensive in there.

  • Or my go to easy pre made lunch is to bake some chickpeas with soy sauce, smoked paprika, a stock cube and sesame seeds and have that in a wrap with whatever salad you want. Basically, smoked paprika and soy sauce make anything taste good.

  • Just ate two of these, bought from Tesco at the weekend from the meat stuff aisle (£1 each), rather than the veggie stuff one. Very tasty – beats the Greggs effort hands down.

  • I also enjoy quorn vegan chicken/ham slices, flora spread and pickle. Tesco cheap own brand pickle tastes indistinguishable to Branston in my opinion.

  • Not a fan of the quorn vegan slices. The texture is something resembling a reconstituted flesh paste. Tofurkey4lyf.

  • for dipping in soup

    wait, what?

  • Ginsters are massive tory-donor scumbags.

  • Tofu fried with tofu

  • You know...where you make a cheese [for us, cheese alternative] sandwich and dip it into tomato soup and its really great? Is it just me that does that?

  • It’s not a very English thing, but is SOP for a good grilled [non-cheese/cheese] experience.

Can we talk meal prep- what do people tend to do for a week?

  • Ha ha, edited so it actually makes sense.

  • Big dhal/curry with veg. For lunch I’ve been making a big quinoa salad with fresh veg in it and sometimes tofu on the side. I like making tomato sauce for pasta in batches but it doesn’t feel like it has a lot of protein/healthiness in it.

  • sandwich and dip it into tomato soup

..is that like dunking a donut in coffee, but at lunch time?

  • I guess, though cheese and tomato co-exist in other nutritional habitats

  • Bought a pack of these on a whim at Aldi -

Not sure if you have them in the UK?

    They're ok.
Kind of thick, so I cut them in half (much easier to actually cook them without charring them I have found - on the pack it says you can grill them as well but I am pretty sure this would be a complete disaster).
Taste is alright, bit "sweet" for my liking. There's actually coconut oil in these. Guess to make them more "greasy", I don't know.
Probably won't buy again very soon but for the occasional burger when you're too lazy to make your own they're alright I guess.

  • Aldi now have a 'own brand' oat milk in store.

  • Got some of this today. Tastes much better than Lidl's oat milk 👍

  • Didn't know that Lidl had there own.

To be honest Lidl seem to behead of the game on discount supermarkets. A lot more veg and nuts in loose format.

  • My local Lidl stopped selling milk alternatives last week. Only have own brand lacto free stuff now.
