Have a look at Tissot.
This may be a bit thick:

SARB is a good shout, I would have suggested one of the new "zen garden" ones but they come in at either 38mm (eg https://www.seiyajapan.com/collections/seiko/products/seiko-automatic-presage-sary149-made-in-japan) or nearer 42mm (eg https://www.seiyajapan.com/collections/seiko/products/seiko-automatic-presage-sary141-made-in-japan). The SARB was 38 too though.

Cheers, and @Regal
Tissot is a possible, need to have a look at some in a shop. The Seikos are nice but a bit similar to a couple of Seiko 5s that I already own (and I guess do fulfil my criteria).
Has anyone got the Timex Q? I like the look of them but haven't seen one in a shop yet to judge what it's like.
Any suggestions for something ~40mm, pretty slim, smart but not a dress watch, water resistant for swimming and sub £500 (preferably sub £200)? Kinetic/solar is OK. Quartz at a push.
Cheers
