So is an SKX007 still the light entry option or should I take a gamble on something like the Phantom on Kickstarter by the folks at Hamtun?

The new Seiko 5 Sports in the same style as the SKX are the current equivalent. There are still some SKX floating around but they’re not made anymore.

The 5 Sports range aren’t “proper” divers watches but they are better finished and have a better movement than the SKXs.

The ‘5s’ logos are really off putting though, even if the improved movement is attractive.

Currently a bit torn on whether to play safe for something I don’t mind breaking but has a bit of history like the SKX007 or saving up properly for something a little more obscure like an Oak and Oscar...
