if your going to save a dudes race - do it with a leather jacket and an angle grinder.

Maybe also while smoking a cigar and ask someone to hold your beer/mint tea.

Maybe, it's the valve, if there is a piece of broken valve core in there, otherwise he could've just changed the core.
Maybe he wanted to put a tube in the tyre but couldn't get the tubeless valve out.
