Friend came over with his 1:8 nitro truggy yesterday. So much fun bashing it round the fields. I really want to build up a brushless truggy now.

One big issue with the kits is the plastic/screw combo. The abs has a tendency to crack in places when using the self-tapping screws (not to mention that they are JIS screws and not phillips/posi).

To avoid it I’ve bought hex head screws and I'm tapping every hole. #tapthat #nthdegree

I'd be worried the plastic won't cope with the much finer pitch of a regular screw thread.

Lots of lexan cutting/ trimming, sanding.

Masking and painting next, what could go wrong?

Good shout re white pen for tyres will give that a go.

Yeah but lots more surface area.

Plus, bolt as opposed to self tapper will not re-thread on repeated use.

It’ll be okay, you can cut straight into the plastic with them, this is just easier.
