  • As far as I'm aware it's static. I have access to all of the existing ones, and am not aware of the selection getting smaller. No idea if there are plans to expand it.

I'm happy to pay it for Super Mario World & A Link to the Past alone.

  • It's the only way to get cloud game saves for most games and the only way to do multiplayer for some, so a bit evil. If any of the other aspects of the subscription are also attractive, then yes.

  • Cloud saves for Switch? Is that a thing? Granted it's not something I'd plan to make use of, but I always assumed that just got stored on the device itself.

  • The only annoying thing about the NES emulator is you have to be online to load a game so can't play it on a plane or similar.

  • Is it not the case that you have 7 days since your last online connection to access the games? I mostly play mine at home, but have done so on a bus too

  • Hmm I don't think so. I'll check.

  • I just tested it out. I opened the NES emulator while connected to the wifi and it worked, then I turned on airplane mode and opened it again and it still worked. So maybe they changed it because I remember a while ago I was playing Punch Out at home and got a flight the next day, took my Switch on with me, tried to start the game and it wouldn't load because it wasn't online.

  • Once you have linked Online to your Nintendo account, you just turn on a previously grayed-out config option and from then on it works automatically for all compatible games. You can go and change the settings for individual games.

Aside from the basic assurance that you don't lose your progress if your Switch is broken or stolen, and it being handy for the bigamist who keeps a console in each household, I've found practical use for it on a couple of occasions. If you know you're going to come back to a game eventually but you need to free up the space and you don't want it clogging up the home screen, it gives you that.

  • Fair enough! Nice backup option to have!

  • I just picked one up a few weeks back so may well be the case. Sticks in my memory as you can get a 7 day free trial, which I noticed you could theoretically extend to 14 by popping it in airplane mode.

  • Mario Kart Tour gripe... Really annoys me that I can't chat to anyone on my friends list, it would add so much I reckon... Shit talking, swapping tips, etc...

Most of my idle couch time is spent playing this stupid game... I'm already at that point in the tour where I don't think I'm gonna get a higher score unless I randomly get an ace character out of the pipe... Annoying and slightly boring, we were meant to be together... 🤪

  • I like smash online and random trades on pokemon are fun. Seems good value to me, even if its not the most streamlined at times.

  • CDkeys had Nintendo Online for £14, been playing a little vintage Mario and throwing down summon signs on Dark Souls.

Still need to pick up Pokémon Sword

  • As someone who’s not played a Pokemon game since Yellow, the new Pokemon’s are excellent.

  • Nintendo have always been years behind the other platforms wrt online. Boggling.

  • I assumed this was more a case of keeping everything family friendly. Don't need excessive comms moderation to prevent kids hearing all sorts if there's no comms.

At least, that was the excuse for not having an online repo of Super Mario Maker levels they gave.

  • I've played 1 iteration on each handheld system until now, and have always preferred the early ones.

Got given a £50 Amazon voucher, so will likely pull the trigger on Sword/ Sandels in the near future.

  • If you play Fallen Order and enjoy it, it's pretty much a Sekiro Lite. They have completely copied the combat system.

  • thanks, good to know..

  • 7th Sector looks interesting.

This turned out not to be true.

  • Doom 1, 2 and 3 for £4.80 for Switch on the Nintendo store.

    Great nostalgic fun!

  • Does anyone here play R6 Siege on PC?

  • Turned out I had some points. Got the first two for a total of 30p!

  • Also half price on Civ VI which is reminding me why I haven't really played any Civ games after Civ II.

Really want to try Skyrim/Witcher 3 but don't want to be disappointed by poor ports/clunky controls/15fps etc.

  • Anything else on there I should be checking out? I'm getting tired of Mario Kart Tour, there's no end in sight!!
