So the organisers take £20k in reg money and don't offer a prize for the winner? Lame and cheap.

Nobody complains about that. Having a prize wouldn't fit the culture. The organisers have a lot of costs to plan the event and put it on. They won't make a lot of money out of it. I'm not aware of anyone saying it isn't good value.

I'd always go for the guy who has rested for longer and ridden faster. He can generally pull out a bit more than the guy who has plodded along and not slept for 3 days!

This is despite the fact that I am generally towards the 2nd category.
