  • You're all being a bit harsh. Who could have foreseen that 2020 was coming?

  • You would have needed 2020 vision.

  • and the fix being much pricier than handling one or two exceptions.

  • It is. It's the Millennium Bug deferred. The system only has a two column date and originally would have added 1900 to any value. As 2000 approached, rather than properly fix the issue they changed the logic so that 0 to 19 have 2000 added, 1900 is added to any other value. Same problem -only having 2 digits for the date - they just deferred its impact.

  • I still don’t think it is. For one, I doubt they are using a legacy system so old it had the original millennium bug and secondly, this is an issue with a two digit age value, not a date value.

  • Did I remember you said you work on the bugs before?

  • We had a similar issue on a legacy back office system before Christmas - a bunch of stores suddenly couldn’t order any stock because it was trying to place orders in 1920. To be fair it was already 15 years old in 1999 so wasn’t expected to still be going in 2020...

  • Agree. It’s only the symptoms that are similar.

  • Maybe the HO didn't think anybody would live over 99 years of age...and so they didn't bother testing for it?

  • Guys we have know

  • You would have thought, but meme thread proves that to be wrong. You can post what offensive, lies and make accusations of any poster as long as the person they are referring to doesn't search for comments. Then reporting the comments means the person making the comments doesn't get banned or told to stop with the threat of a ban. Especially if the clique decide that the comments are acceptable.

  • Poor or no testing.

  • It is definitely a standard "boundary condition" test, and not sure why it wasn't done, however corners are often cut when there isn't time and budget.

There are other sloppy errors as well, with dates being wrong and the app asking for evidence for months that haven't started yet.

  • I doubt they are using a legacy system so old it had the original millennium bug

    I lol'd.

  • Why is there meme morning in here? How did it transfer?

  • Someone didn’t wash their hands.

  • , I doubt they are using a legacy system so old it had the original millennium bug

    Awww, bless.

Seriously, point with the other argument but not that one.

  • Etc...

Brexiter complains about Schiphol immigration queue.

You can only use the E-gates with EU/EAA passports... it is not clear they are already enforcing that, but the non egates queues are much longer (I cannot use them as my son is under 16 so I always end up in the superqueue)

Sure, it wasn't warned about, wait it was :)

  • I'm not usually given to schaudenfreude (especially since the schauden is shared among all of us) but as this guy also enjoys trolling cyclists, I'll make an exception in this case.

  • Is he for real.

That being said, any queues there at the moment should not really be due to Brexit, no? As the whole FoM thing still applies.

  • Apparently that airport is introducing earlier - a few of them are.

  • When I went through school recently (pre brexit), one of the customs halls was closed for refurb and there were huge queues.

  • I don't know, the picture very much looks like he's standing in the usual queue for EU-and-associated citizens with electronic passports. This kind of thing, but with the Union Jack added preemptively. (And good god is it an ugly Union Jack, btw, someone really didn't put much time into getting it right)
