  • which is a shame as the story was interesting

    Um ...

    and never finished it

Ah! Infinite makes a lot of promises and fulfills basically none of them. It drowns itself in centerist what-about-isms

  • Gameplay was just too samey- in retrospect it’s like Doom - but with all the fun stripped out.

Think I just watched someone’s YouTube explanation of wtf was going on in the end.

  • There was a distinct "Wait, this is it?" feeling after about 3 arena fights. Didn't help that it took a decent length intro before you got there also so it felt like it could have been good for a while

Edit: also, in case it wasn't clear, my previous response was suggesting that not finishing it was a totally valid conclusion!

  • Boss mentioned he plays cod4: Modern Warfare (the 15 year old version, not the new one), so I downloaded it and it’s great. I can run it on my shitty laptop, still loads of players, and easy to just drop in and fuck around on for half an hour - perfect!

  • The only bit of gameplay I liked in Infinite was the loopy swoopy stuff on the skyrails. Could have played that for hours. Like Wipeout with nicer graphics.

The mechanical patriots and the dwarf guys in the stupid masks can all fuck right off to the absolute centre of the sun, though.

  • I wonder if anyone's made a mod to take out all the enemies. Could almost make it an enjoyable experience to explore. I'd call it a story mode but the story would need to be good for that to work

  • I'd call it a story mode but the story would need to be good for that to work

    Haha! Zing!

  • Just beat Dark Souls 3 in 26h 43m, no DLC, no Ocerios or Champion Gundyr yet.

First time I beat the game took me 80+ hours. Onto the remaining bosses then DLC (which I have never played)

  • The dlc is great. Sone fantastic bosses. Good luck!

  • That and Halo 2&3 are pretty much all I play on my Xbox One.

  • Agree. Never finished any of them.

  • how much of a time sink is Sekiro?
Is it a game you can not play for a while and still progress? Or do you have to concentrate on it solely, night after night?

Reading reviews feels like it's the latter and I'm not sure I can devote the time to it, to make it worth my while..

  • Most of what I've heard is the latter. It honestly sounds more like a rhythm game than anything, certainly that it benefits from focused attention - and that most of the enjoyment came from overcoming and mastering the systems

  • Replaying BotW on 'Master Mode', completely changes the way the game is played. Power dynamic reversed so you're always on the back foot, trying to avoid direct confrontation. Makes it even more MGSV-like (at least, how I played it, leave your rocket-fists and RPGs at the door...). Only around 25% through the main quest-line so will be interesting to see if this persists.

  • yeah, with my scattered playing time, getting into a rhythm with a game, through constant play isn't where I'm at, will probably buy it anyway, but will leave it for the time being.
Now wondering if jedi: fallen order is any good, currently watching fightincowboy "let's play" of it, and it feels like a game which I could get into, without having to master every aspect to succeed. A bit uncharted with lightsabers...

  • It's very uncharted with lightsabers. Definitely not a bad thing.

I mostly enjoyed it, but some of the back and forth across the levels can get a bit repetetive. Especially when you come across the exact same situations each time.

  • I've sworn off new games until I've completed my pile of shame, but am tempted with Fallen Jedi.
But with Doom Eternal around the corner I'm going to just wade into finishing Horizon and Days Gone before launch day.

If I can get Dark Souls 3 out of my machine...

  • You got an xbox? The latest Tomb Raider is Game Pass at the moment

  • I tried it because I thought it would be something I could dip in to (having played Prey, Witcher 3 and RDR2 prior) . Actually it was just the intense frustration of fighting the same grunts over and over to get to the same boss or mini boss who would quickly batter me because I mistimed one jump or slash or the camera went to the wrong place for no apparent reason. And rinse and repeat.

I can appreciate the craft that went into building it but frustration isn't my preferred gameplay style.

  • I've started playing Satisfactory (update 3, experimental) and it's really good. I couldn't get into the earlier releases, but now the intro makes sense and I have a clue what I'm supposed to do

worried it's gonna be a massive time sink though

  • Nah I’m ps4.
Still haven’t finished uncharted 4 or horizon zero dawn, and about a third of the way through Spider-Man.
But they are pretty easy to pick up and play, just takes a couple of goes to get back into the rhythm of it..

  • Yeah watching the let’s play I can see how it could become frustrating, lots of respawning of enemies you’ve already killed as you try to go back to areas you’ve already traversed..

  • Switch online subscription ting, is it worth it?

  • Classic (S)NES games?

    For £20/year I'd say so.

  • I was confused by that, do the games cycle in and out or does the library get bigger?
