  • @JurekB makes an excellent suggestion. I met a mate at Katowice airport and we hired a car and drove to Auschwitz. I would highly recommend a visit there, seeing TV documentaries doesn't beat the real experience.

    I know it's just words but I wouldn't want anyone to think it would be anything other than at least a bit traumatic.

  • Yeah. On a much less direct example I went on a field trip to WW1/2 memorials when I was in Secondary school. Whilst its less in your face, things like the Menin Gate are pretty harrowing.

    I guess your response to these things will depend on your mindset but its not something I would recommend lightly.

    Edit: also I googled the Menin Gate and the first ad is for Army Cadets! What the actual fuck?
