Small changes in behaviour at scale cause large problems :)
If everyone goes out this weekend and buys significantly more food and supplies than they usually do the shelves get depleted and then people start to panic buy more and the shelves get further depleted causing more panic. Vicious circle.

I see nothing wrong with his statement.
If he has to self isolate his family, he'd like to prepare to feed them and reduce trips to the shops. Self isolate.

I don't believe in throwing food away so if they consume or donate it later, why the heavy words?
