i went out for my maiden voyage with my one tonight, mostly solo except for two attempts with a stoker. Bit wobbly, not quite enough to fall off, but enough to scare him back onto his own bike.
It is single speed, and the gearing might be a bit high for two beginners, any tips?
My new-stoker advice is ‘just keep pedalling’ and ‘don’t lean’. Tandems are much more stable when underway so you can adjust this advice once you make it that far.
We had a 0mph tumble outside the caff at the bottom of the galibier as we were cold and tired and temporarily forgot this wisdom.

Starting is what separates experienced crews from beginners, a big gear seems like it would be an issue but actually a good solid push from two people gets up speed so quickly that changing gear is probably just as bad.
