• Ask anyone from Taiwan, but be sure you have an least a good couple of hours to spare. You know Taiwan is not actually recognised as a country in many respects, right?

Almost every Taiwanese friends I have / have had will tell you they are Chinese, but they are from Taiwan.

Increasingly, a lot of people from HK will tell you we are Chinese, but we are from Hong Kong.

Anyway, that doesn't have a lot to do with this thread.

  • I've always felt that the HongKonger self-definition was a pretty strong one.

Anyways, discussing with some ID friends at the minute and the hasty prep work for the London diagnosing service is interesting.

  • Yes, it has been, but there have always been 2 troops, folks like my uncle for example, not the same one asking for masks, who is through and through Chinese Chinese and he wasn't even born in China. He would be one of those who would thank the motherbland for allowing them to do X, Y and Z etc. During the umbrella movements and the recent protests, he would have also been one of those who would curse those who fight for their freedoms and rights.

Bascially, if you are blue, you are for the Chinese gov and if you are yellow, then you are a true HK freedom fighter. Blue = colour of the police.
