I am blessed with the sort of luck that if I was stood in the middle of an empty sports hall and the lights went out if I even tried to move one step I would trip over one of the painted court lines or slam into a hastily and silently relocated vaulting horse. My family used to each put a bet on a different horse in The Grand National. One year I was persuaded to do the same at work. Being a cynical, superstitious, tight wad my brain went into guilt mode and I secretly chose a third horse (in my head) as well believing that if it won I would have just reason to be pissed for gambling me money away.
All three horses fell at Beecher's.
I learnt that I always veer to the left when walking in a straight line in total darkness due to my ear bones.
