If they keep Sanders from a majority overall (of delegates) … whilst that would likely be a massive lead over second place they can still declare the nomination ‘undecided’. In a 2nd round bought ‘super-delegates’ will largely decide the nominee. It’s blatant and shows quite a disgusting disregard for democracy. But (as they themselves have said) they’re not really a public body. They’re pseudo-private. And can do what they like.
