  • Thinking of drilling and tapping my shimano m525 front hub to take a grease nipple... Any reason why I shouldn’t?

  • Doesn't even need to have a nipple - a mate just drilled a hole and tapped it for an M3 screw; on another bike he just drilled the hole and uses a couple of turns of alu tape to cover it up. He tops up the grease once or twice a year with a mini grease gun - it has a pointy enough nozzle to make an ok seal on the hole.

  • Any reason why I shouldn’t?

    Do it, just to satisfy my curiosity about exactly how much grease it would take to fill up the shell of an HB-M525. My money is on >100ml
