100%. Jon Schwartz wrote an article some time ago about what he calls the Iron Law of Instutions, which basically I think is basically the primer for understanding anglo-american politics in the last decade. The whole article is totally worth a read, but boils down to:
The Iron Law of Institutions is: the people who control institutions care first and foremost about their power within the institution rather than the power of the institution itself. Thus, they would rather the institution "fail" while they remain in power within the institution than for the institution to "succeed" if that requires them to lose power within the institution.
This is the DNC in a nutshell. They already blew up the Iowa caucus to prevent Bernie taking a victory there. If he takes the nomination then they are going to go to full ratfuck mode.
