Our office has someone returning from a trade show in Singapore at the weekend. HR dept. pretty much says "if govt. doesn't say otherwise, they're free to come straight back into the office tomorrow". Fun times ahead.

But the truth is anyone travelling into work via a ski lodge in France, a cafe Nero in Gatwick or a Boozer near Brighton would be equally as likely to be bringing cooties to the office no? Unless that specific trade event has been identified as a source of the nasty?

The Royal Free has the UK’s only high level isolation unit. In the past it's had patients with things like Ebola. It has two beds.

There’s a 2 bed HLIU at the RVI in Newcastle as well which can expand to 6. I assume there’s a few other places that can manage PPE based isolation. Still not a lot in the grand scheme of things.

Respirator with own independent air supply as aero air is recirculated air with a bit drawn in from the engines. But as you say it is to stop spreading disease as that is why doctors (medical staff) in operating theaters wear them.
Might help if everyone is wearing masks...

If I sneeze at work this week I reckon I might clear the office.
Can we start running a book? How many sneezes till people run, bet who goes first etc.

Increase in reported cases in China has tailed off. Is that due to efficacy of the measures taken, or have they run out of testing kits and testing capacity?
-
• #291
Seems to be 14 days after they imposed the wide area quarantines, so may well be that the measures are working.
-
• #293
They’ve changed how they count, test positive and show symptoms. Previously it was just test positive.
-
• #294
This is curious. What would be the purpose of the test, if not to confirm symptoms?

The Chinese govt said that they would have a handle on it by the week of the 10th, so now the facts have to match that.

My wife’s work will be footing the bill so probably somewhere nice like the Mandarin. Hotels are comparatively cheap at the moment.

Got temperature pinged by the medics yesterday arriving in Venice from Gatwick - not a hugely high risk entry point I wouldn't think. Obviously bugger all coming back to the UK later.

We went there for dinner on Saturday. Lovely view of the harbour.

Bars and restaurants must be suffering big time with this on top of the protests.
Kind of expecting lots of bars I used to drink in when I lived there to have vanished.
Get him!!!!!!
