Having just spoken to Evans, they don't service these hubs in house, because they don't have the skills. They send them back to shimano and it costs £££.

Complete fucking bullshit as I have done those hubs muiltple times at Evans, Just required one specific park tool spanner to take it apart, and to order that oil from Madison.

Depends which branch you go to and whether the person on the desk fielding queries has a brain.

Even half a mechanic can do that by just following Shimano documents or on YouTube on their phone (YouTube is banned).

Have used various Shimano geared hubs without issue. Have also serviced a few, mostly out of curiosity. It's not so bad, if you can follow printed or video instructions and have worked on bikes before you'll be fine.

Although that 1 review and a staff comment on Alfine services is probably why the A8 is at £650.. imho a great buy.

Reviews can be quite misleading.

This is the ideal tyre width for gravel. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

Yep, with a bit of crimping. It's quite tight though, I think a 2" might be better at the back. My fork's non-standard but the original also clears a 2.1".

Did anyone buy one?

Im the same height and same inseam. I went for an L frame (Kona Unit) as the main purpose of this bike is multiple weeks off road touring. Can’t say I regret it, the frame fits really well and there’s balance between handlebar and saddle height. Probably would pick an M if I was planning riding more aggressively on the trails.

one guy I ran into on Q1 had it, build was great with VO Guards, he said he loves it

I mean. What I'd like is a straggler/midnight special with a carbon fork. And I think I'd want a black carbon fork on the tsunami.

Bottom bracket is high! Is that 26”?

It is 26" yes.
The geometry chart from Intec was pretty sparse, so I don't think I ever saw the number for BB drop, but the ride is really stable.

This is what I'm after:

Horizontal TT
Discs
Capacity for carbon fork

That Intec looks like everything I don't want right now.
