  • that's the daddy.

  • Cheers @greenhell and @Mishk - I have my options :)

  • Spending a weekend in Zurich at the end of the month (watching cx) any restaurant recommendations? would prefer not to get completely rinsed but understand that I am in Switzerland so financial pain is the norm (autocorrect changed spending to spendy for me so even my phone knows I’m going to get screwed!)

  • This is probably wildly optimistic but anywhere decent for fish and chips (preferably with gravy and curry sauce) around Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Oxford Circus, etc?

  • There is! if Tottenham court road counts.. Gigs.

Or there's a Poppies in Soho. the one is Shoreditch is decent.

  • Gigs was the backup plan if I couldn't find anywhere more central.

I didn't realise there was a Poppies in Soho. The Camden one is decent but pricey from what I remember.

  • Yeah it's definitely not proper chip shop prices in Poppies.

  • rock and sole plaice for ffs!

  • I ended up at Gigs, the fish and chips were actually really good, better than I remembered. Gravy and curry were average.

I forgot all about rock and sole.

  • Awwwww Giggs was my go to when I used to work on Charlotte St. Glad it's still going strong.

  • My favourite restaurant in Zurich is Akaraka. Top drawer Korean and not too spendy in Swiss terms.

If you're wanting something more Swiss, the Rheinfelder beer hall is worth a look.

  • fish and chips just off oxford street, 5 blocks from oxford street tube

golden union on poland street best in the area without question

  • Anyone know if Rudies in Dalston is still going? Table booking on website not working, delisted from Open Table, not answering phone, no reply to email...

  • I walked past it a week ago and there were people in there.

  • Maybe they're just being rude?

  • 😔

  • Any recommendations for a bite around Bank that isn't too over the top suit/city

  • 10 adults and 5 one-year-olds for Sunday lunch later this month in East/North London (Hackney/Dalston/Stokie etc)

Is there anywhere/anyway to do this without it being hellishly noisy and chaotic? LOL

  • The roast beef in the Adam and Eve in Homerton is one of the best pubs roasts I've ever had. It's fairly busy, but you could probably reserve an area that was pretty much contained. Worth it for the food...

  • Cheers Owl, it's my local! I'm pretty sure you can book tables in the back room.

    Any other suggestions?

  • Jolly Butchers in Stoke Newington would normally be what I'd go for there but I'm not sure how good an option it is for toddlers.

  • The Prince in Stoke Newington has an upstairs room that's out of the way, toilets on the same floor, and they do Sunday lunch.

(I haven't been there on a Sunday so don't know how busy it gets, but it's a nice space.)

  • 5 one-year-olds

    ...

  • Good shout. I spent a very pleasant few afternoon there on new years' day smoothing out the hangover.
