Thanks!
Second question: when looking at geometry I always fall in between M or L. I’m 178cm and 83 cm inseam. Think of running wathever I buy with a Jones bar. Might that push me towards L more? I’ve got an old mtb lying around but it’s been so long ago I’ve ridden it I don’t even know if it has good geo for me 😅

If you find the answer to the m/l dilemma, let me know. Exactly the same height as you.
Right now I am in the size up for MTB camp, but I am quite unsure because I have no idea how those modern geometrys work.

FWIW I'm running mine with Nitto B903s, which probably equates to a very short reach, and it feels very upright, but fine for my bimbling through woodlands. That said I'd be quite keen to try drops again if I could afford GRX.

Yeah I'd be tempted with these bars too. To be honest I want it to be more upright than my normal riding position as it is just for commuting, weekend shopping/moving around and eventually basket/Carradice touring.

What’s the verdict on this hub-geared Arkose? It’d be a cycle to work voucher job. Anyone got experience of this hub and how long between service intervals?
Thanks in advance!

The review on that page reflects my experience of hub gears! I'd much prefer something I can service myself...

The more I look into rigid mtb's, the more I get back at the bootzipper. It's just the cheapest/best value solution for me. Some good suggestions here but the local second hand market sucks + international postage kills me.

That review is utter dumb. Alfine 8 is good.
-
• #10397
This. Everything needs maintenance, regular ”service” of Alfine 8 is basically an oil bath and a regrease.

Everything needs maintenance
Maybe that's where I'm going wrong.
Buy, ride, bin, repeat

Having just spoken to Evans, they don't service these hubs in house, because they don't have the skills. They send them back to shimano and it costs £££.
Sounds like Evans are shit and customer does not fancy paying a service cost.

Recommended. For that money it's a total no brainer.
You got a source on that?
