like anything as easy or as hard as you want it to be. basic level kits are a doddle to build, and oftenb come with motors and speed controls. One things Tamiyas have going for them over over brands is that they are very straight forward to build. Even the more complex ones like the Egress come woth well laid out and easy to follow manuals.
of course, buying a ready to run is even easier, but for a lot of us the build is part of the fun.
