To be fair, you’re 100% right, there is no need for it (like on road bike with rims brake callipers), the low compression housing are perfectly fine and add a degree of modulation.
I prefer the compression-less because I want to ensure less travel for the same pull, keep a decent gap between moving pads and rotors, and just adjust the barrier adjuster when the moving pads is worn.
I never understood the compression-less or Kevlar thing to be honest. Just fucking pull the fucking fucker. I love me BB5/7's. Set them up right and they'll endo you till the end of days no matter what bloody outer or inner you have.
