Moustache Lundi
On paper it doesen't look too bad. Not crazy overpriced either. Bosch Active Line plus is decent for the price point. This for £400 more is a better deal still: https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/bikes/riese-muller-2019-nevo-gt-city-intuvia-pearl-white-47-cm-ex-demo/

One of the nicest e-bikes I've seen. Firefly make beautiful stuff. Sure it will be $$$ though!
-
• #131
I think it just looks like one of those really cheap ones with battery on downtube and gumwalls tbh . .
This is nice (and modern and integrated):
-
• #132
That's not integrated so much as they added "fins" to the downtube to make it look so - it's the exact same external PowerPack battery standard as the Firefly.
As an aside on the Trek Supercommuter: It's like one big echo chamber for brake resonance and rattles. It's one of the cheapest-feeling Bosch bikes I've worked on over the last 3 years.

If one had acquired a Bosch ready frame / fork... where would one find a motor/battery?
Anyone got a crashed e bike?

You can walk in and buy a powerpack from any Bosch dealer, they're between $700-$900USD generally. A drive unit will be harder - those are typically only available via warranty...
How did you come across a bike with no power pack or drive unit?

This firefly is excellent.
The trek is FUCKING RANCID.
Shoulda gone to spec savers Amy.

You can get the bits individually, remember seeing drive unit/engines available on ebay.de, but only to domestic market addresses, you'd have to use a forward shipping company to get one. Battery and wiring parts are much easier.
My understanding is the European directive that covers e assist bikes means that unless you are a registered OE supplier/manufacturer and have some kind of traceability they don't want folk buying and installing kits themselves. Every proper e bike I've seen retailed in UK has a little sticker on it stating that it conforms. -
• #137
Hmmm.
Yeah I can get bits but not the motor... one on eBay for £450.
But this frame is 20” wheeled.
Will the motor / system detonate if set up for 26/700 and used on 20”?

If you get a Intuvia or a Kiox, you can set the wheel circumference manually which will keep the speedo and odometer straight. If you get a Purion, you'll need to convince a Bosch shop to correct it in the diagnostic software or suffer the motor cutting out before you reach the actual speed cap.

Are there any folding ebikes which aren't shit? The wife is a GP and the practice are looking into a shared ebike that doctors could use for home visits so they don't all need a car, but also don't get too sweaty as there are a few hills in Bristol.
Needs to be relatively light as they may be carrying upstairs and easy to adjust between riders of different heights. Total max distance in a day could be around 30 miles. Any suggestions would be great -

RM tinker? Not technically ’folding’ but folds.
Dont buy the ebrmpton
-
• #141
I have a tinker. No way anyone is carrying that up stairs.
Excellent bike otherwise.
-
• #142
Ah shit, that heavy? Shame
-
• #143
Like two people heavy. Probably 28kg with the belt drive and biggest battery.
Cumbersome to lift by yourself because of the shape and centre of gravity.
-
• #144
Good to know about the ebrompton. The new raleigh stowaway seems to get a few good comments, unlike the 2018 verison

Have you had one? Have you had any issues? Have you experience of how issues are resolved?

Portus cycles as has built a brilliant e-cycle truck, the double headlights are a nice touch.
Not so sure about the forks...
