It bloody well does! I had a gummed-up hub that responded very well to a healthy dose of oil. SA always recommended a teaspoon of oil every couple of thousand miles via the oil port back in t’day.
If the hub is slipping, it wont. If the hub if completely full of gunk etc, a tad of oil might get you a few miles use before further issue.
Best to open it, service it, and rebuild it.
I have had a look for a video on opening it all up, do you know of any decent ones knocking around? It's the standard BWR hub.
