Wiring question:
I've wired up a strat copy, but the sound coming out when I plug it in is quite quiet. I can turn it up at the amp and it's loud enough, but if I touch the pickup against the string (the scratch plate is not yet fully screwed down) it sound is super loud, and I suspect, actually how it's meant to sound. Does this sound like an earthing problem? I have the ground going to the underside of the bridge (it's a hard tail), does that seem right?
Humbuckers or single coils? If you wire humbuckers incorrectly it can make the output quiet. Also, have you set the pickups to be the right distance from the strings?
