So, ordered a Thomson X2 stem.... Open up the bag and look what I find... Thanks Chain reaction cycles! :(

Wonder if that's someone returning a stem without it being checked properly. Unfortunate!

On a brighter note, put the wheels on so I could roll the frame home from work.
Went for the visions because they were cheap, I have some 50 mm carbon wheels on my caad 12 that may get switched over from time to time.

;-)
Also pretty sure SP clamp should be 31.8

Built it up and went for a ride. I really rate how this thing rides, it really wasn't as harsh I expected but felt super snappy. Need to get the steerer cut, and had some issues with my bars rotating down when hitting a coupe of bumps. Thomson stem doesn't seem to grip particularly well.
And here is a pretty poor pic:

What size tyres can you get on it? Lots of frames got a rep for being harsh in the era when everyone was running 23s.
25s will certainly help the ride.
Looks rad btw. Needs road pedals.

Good point, it has 25s.
Yeah I have a couple of pairs of SLs, although they are all on bikes. Will do some shifting.

Is it size large with Hed3?

Not sure that CK headset is genuine. The lettering on the bearing cover and top cap looks far cruder than it should be.

I bought it from Condor, so assume it's genuine

Thomson stem are tricky to install. You need to tighten the bolt equally and at the same time to avoid slippage on the bars.

This has turned out great!

Sorry. I was talking bollocks then.

It's about 58cm and I have a rear HED3c but it needs repairing

Returns are not checked, the level of fraud does not add up to enough dollar to pay people to check all the returns so they just get re-stocked. At least that is the way it used to be, opening bike boxes full of random bits put in to approximate the weight of the “returned” bike.

That’s why thomson adds friction paste to x2 stem. Use it and you’ll forget about rotating bars. And use torque wrench.

Nice work bud!

Does it look like you can de-sticker the Visions?

Yeah, don't think I will though. Took it out for a spin today and rear wheel has a big wobble in the hub. Don't think they are adjustable either
Thanks! I should have everything I need to build it up at the weekend!
